My travels and my bikes

I started making miniature bicycles during an eight-year trip around the world that I took while hitchhiking with my wife, Maryvonne. We took a chance that by trading our labor for room and board, we would gain access to the heart of families, sharing their daily lives, celebrations, sorrows, and joys for a few weeks or months. The doors to their homes and lives opened wide.
We’ve set down our backpacks in various corners of the globe—in a village on the Ganges Plain, in the Bolivian highlands with the Aymara people, as well as in Japan’s megacities and the Australian bush.
We recounted this extraordinary human adventure in a book titled *Huit ans autour du monde* (Eight Years Around the World), published in French and Esperanto, the international language, under the title *Ok jaroj ĉirkaŭ la mondo*.
